Facilities

The latest and most efficient technologies form the cornerstone of CME’s world-class services. Whether it be a small complex component or a large structural assembly, we have the means and minds to produce it.

‘State-of-the-art’ is the best way to describe our expansive facilities, which include:

A SMC and DMC compound manufacturing plant
Compression moulding equipment
A glass mat thermoplastic (GMT) process plant
A quality assurance laboratory
Dedicated research facilities
Computer-based solid modelling and design support
A separate paint plant specifically designed for composites

Extensive dealings with major global car manufacturers--such as Ford Motor Company and General Motors’ Australian company, Holden--ensure that our documentation, process control and general manufacturing systems are of highest quality and are accredited to TS-16949, Ford Q1 and ISO-14001.

Our extensive facilities ensure that we can provide an engineered solution with significantly reduced lead times.

--customised composites--

At CME, we tailor our sheet moulding componds(SMC) and dough moulding compoubds (DMC) to meet the specified property requirements. By varying glass content and other essential raw materials we can control the individual characteristics of the material to guarantee an ideal solution for the intended application. What’s more, because we do it all from one location, we can respond quickly to changes in customer requirements.

Compression moulding equipmentCompression moulding equipment

--high-volume value--

With the largest compression plant in Australia, we can produce a wide range of parts large and small, for volumes in excess of 300,000 parts per year. One of the major advantages of composite materials is tooling--it can be modified to accommodate necessary changes in the design stage. This flexibility ensures the CME composite solution maintains an enormous cost advantage over that of other materials and processes.

GMT facilityGMT facility

--easy access to the latest technologies--

Operating since early 2005, this is the only facility of its kind in the Asia Pacific region. It has the ability to output high-quality products with impact and weather resistance, combined with weight properties unequalled by traditional materials.

Testing and research laboratoryTesting and research laboratory

--mind over matter--

Quality assurance and R&D are integral parts of our business. We have experts on-hand to carry out all material formulation and customised product development. We continually:

Test raw materials
Monitor product quality
Analyse materials in order to ascertain physical properties
Determine material requirements via finite element analysis modelling
Measure and monitor dimensional tolerances of manufactured parts

Alliances between our engineering team, independent scientific and industrial research organisations and academic institutions such as Australia’s top universities, provide the backbone to our industry-driven developments. Through our combined efforts, technological breakthroughs have become commonplace.

Computer-based solid modelling and design support

--we’re here to help--

We have trained personnel who are able to assist with computer-aided design. They work with you to fine-tune details, finalise mounting points and ultimately produce the optimal final product.
